Drama. The Big Co-Op’s open again after refurbishment. I think they’ve made it smaller though (for Sunday licensing purposes? It’s not clear to me), which is interesting because it’s possible that the Big Co-Op is now smaller than the Little Co-Op.
Confusing. What makes it even more perplexing is that until it closed, I was routinely calling the Big Co-Op the ‘little co-op’ as a wind-up for Sammy, who is never not amused by my constant wind-ups and only hides her delight with an eye-roll or quick arching of the eyebrows. I know the truth about how hilarious she finds me though; I’m pretty savvy.
Anyway, now that the (Little) Big Co-Op is potentially smaller than the (Big) Little Co-Op at the other end of the village, I’m not sure how to refer to either of them. It seems a bit grand to call them the West Co-Op and the East Co-Op (like seaside piers or Edwardian theatres) though that does sort of work geographically.
No, what we’ll naturally revert to (much like football stadiums are only ever called by their original names and not their official sponsorship names) is sticking with the Big Co-Op (now refurbished) and the Little Co-Op (unchanged) - even though there’s every chance that those names are round the wrong way - and we’ll just have to hope that I don’t get the urge to wind Sammy up about which is which by being completely accurate about the size comparison.
Or we could just go to Sainsbury’s.
